Affiliate networks compared: pros and cons

Before you sign up, check who can join the network, the minimum payout and whether you need a company ID (IČO) or VAT registration. Each network links to its programs in the catalog.

Company ID (IČO) and VAT

Some networks only pay out to businesses. When commissions come from abroad (for example from CJ), in the Czech Republic you must be a VAT payer or register as a VAT identified person and file a VAT return and an EC sales list (souhrnné hlášení) for the months with a payout.

Minimum payout

Until you reach the payout threshold, your commissions stay with the network. For a smaller site this can take months.

Conversion approval

An order is only paid out after the e-shop approves it, typically once the return period has passed.

Language and support

Czech and Slovak networks communicate in Czech or Slovak. International networks often have their interface and support only in English.

E-shops' own affiliate programs

Some e-shops run their affiliate program themselves, without a network, often on a platform such as AffilBox. Such a program always follows the e-shop's own rules: the minimum payout, invoicing, order approval and whether you need a company ID (IČO) are all set by the e-shop in its terms.

The advantage is often a higher commission (the e-shop does not pay a network) and direct contact with the affiliate manager. On the other hand, each program has its own account and its own payout threshold, so commissions do not add up across e-shops as they do in a network.
